PANORAMIC NEO-RENAISSANCE CASTLE
In a picturesque setting with a panoramic view of the Danube Bend, this exclusive, impressive, and unique neo-renaissance castle, built in the late 1800s and fully renovated in the early 2000s, is seeking its future owner.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE CASTLE
The beautifully landscaped property, covering a total area of 14,685 sqm, adorned with ancient trees and featuring a romantic design, is divided by a small street:
On one side of the road, on a 10,396 sqm plot, stands the magnificent neo-renaissance castle with stunning Danube panoramic views. The castle, with a total area of 876 sqm spread over 3 floors (considering the fourth level as well), includes a 3-car garage, a 164 sqm panoramic pool and wellness area with a retractable roof, a tensioned water surface, a heated outdoor pool, equipped bar, sauna, jacuzzi, dressing rooms, and an outdoor grill on the large terrace. The castle park is adorned with unique sculptures.
On the other side of the road, on a 4,289 sqm plot, a Mediterranean GUEST HOUSE has been created with three separate entrance apartments (2 one-bedroom and 1 two-bedroom with an American kitchen). This is complemented by a closed, internal bowling alley with a bar, restroom, and dressing room, as well as an outdoor artificial turf SPORTS COURT suitable for football, tennis, basketball, or handball games. Additionally, there is a mini-golf course near the garden pond.
Both plots are fully enclosed with fences, each having its own gate and providing the option for additional outdoor parking spaces (5+1 on the sports court side and as needed on the castle side).
HISTORY OF THE CASTLE
The French Renaissance-style castle may have been designed by one of Ybl Miklós's well-known disciples, who worked on various notable buildings such as the headquarters of the First Hungarian General Insurance, Vámpalota (now Corvinus University), the Budapest Opera House, the Urania cinema building, the Haggenmacher Palace, the Belvárosi Savings Bank headquarters, and the Brudern House (also known as the Parisian Court). While commissioned for villa work in 1887, evidence suggests that it might have involved the reconstruction of an original building, as an earlier date (1871) appears on one of the facades.
The castle's most famous owner was a burlesque actor who modernized the interior in 1932, incorporating large bathrooms with fayence tiles and modern facilities.
In the early 2000s, the castle underwent comprehensive renovation, preserving its original stylistic features while integrating state-of-the-art technology beneath the surface. During this period, apartments and a sports court were developed on the adjacent plot.
CASTLE LAYOUT
The main building is 876 sqm, the pool is 164 sqm, and the structure on the sports court side with apartments totals 504 sqm.
MAIN BUILDING
On the ground floor, an impressive foyer welcomes guests from the loggia, leading to the hallway, staircase, salon, and guest toilet. The salon connects to a uniquely atmospheric winter garden, dining room, and kitchen. Two bedrooms with their accompanying bathrooms are also located on this level.
The upper floor houses two study rooms and a library with eternal Danube panorama.
The lower level, with a separate entrance, features an event hall with a billiard table, bar counter, wine storage, a large kitchen with a pantry connected to the ground floor by a food delivery lift, a laundry room, three rooms with their associated bathrooms, and storage spaces. The levels are connected by an elevator, and the garage accommodates parking for 3 cars.
The castle, after renovation, meets the expectations of modern times while preserving its original stylistic features.
